Audeze EL-8 – unusual HeadFi twins

Written by

Audeze launch two new headphones. They have the same name, and are real twins.

Audeze headphones are not quite like other headphones. This manufacturer uses a concept they call Planar magnetic speaker technology , a concept that will differ dramatically from conventional headphones. The term refers to the magnetic fields operating in a field that is parallel to the membranes.

The main model of Audeze EL-8 has an open exterior. This model has greater sensitivity than the closed variant of EL-8, which has an efficiency of 100dB at 1mW compared with 102 for the open model. The closed model has in return better shielding against ambient noise.

You can read more about Audeze EL-8 here and on EL-8 closed back here.

Retailers in Norway are Duet Audio and HiFi Oslo Center.
