The Norwegian label 2L release Pure Audio Blu-ray with 9.1-tracks in both Dolby Atmos and Auro 3D. The release will be in October.

2L like to be ahead of everyone else. They published a few years ago the world's first Pure Audio Blu-ray with a 9.1-track in the format Auro 3D, long before the market had the ability to decode it. Now it seems that they are the world's first label with a pure music release in the new format Dolby Atmos. And it will even surprise me if it will not also be the first release where both 3D formats are present simultaneously. This allows to compare the two formats. Assuming of course that you have a decoder for both Auro 3D and Dolby Atmos hanging around somewhere. Time to look at the ticket booth in the attic ...

This autumn it is expected that there will be some releases on Blu-ray in Dolby Atmos. There is reason to fear that this is largely being show-off productions, where quality loses to quantity. On 2L`s release MAGNIFICAT is however every reason to expect that the sound will have the same exquisite quality that it always has 2L`s releases. And although Morten Lindberg is otherwise known to have a radical and highly ambient surround mix, we assume that the height of the channels used only for reverb, and maybe partlly the organ. Although recording venue inside this cathedral of course is ideal for activating the central height channel nicknamed "Voice of God".

Magnificat contains compositions by Kim André Arnesen, and performed by the Trondheim Soloists and the Nidaros Cathedral Girls' Choir. In addition, the compositions of Aaron Jay Kernis and Ola Gjeilo. In this release, which is a dual-disc release with both PABD and SACD.
