MCT450 - New SACD / CD transport from McIntosh

McIntosh launch a new SACD / CD transport. MCT450 has a fairly  unique feature.

 

 

In January we published an article about McIntosh its new digital processor D150 - a further development of the D100. With MCT450 McIntosh have launched the ultimate partner of D150.

McIntosh MCT450 is a transport that can play CD and SACD. For CDs, you can choose between optical, coax and XLR outputs. If you want to play SACDs, you are dependent on using McIntosh`s special variant of digital DIN output. This interface can also be used to all PCM-based formats supported by MCT450 (CD / CD-R / CD-RW with Redbook, waw or MP3). But to use DIN transfer you depend on having a McIntosh digital processor at the other end, and you must use McIntosh`s special DIN cable. This protocol can also transmit multichannel DSD SACD, then transferred to an AV processor with digital DIN input.

 

MCT450 has dual laser, optimized for both CD and SACD. It also has 2x read speed, which should ensure more robust reading of worn CDs.
