Linn Products in Scotland have anniversary, 40 years after the first Linn Sondek came to birth. It has given rise to the launch of Linn exakt.

Although Exakt had a kind of unveiling the 21 September, it is currently only fairly cryptic information that has come out to the public. What is clear is that Edxakt is not a product but a brand new concept. In that sense, this is a great main launch, something on par with when they launched streaming system DS, 6 years ago.

And Linn Exakt seems to build on just a continuation of the DS system. Linn was very quick to create a separate system for streaming, based on UPnP. But there is also another cornerstone in Linn`s characteristics which is continued in Linn exakt: the active crossover. Linn has been quite unique in offering system with active crossovers tailored to their respective speakers.

In Exakt Linn combine these two grips, in that the signal processing takes place in the loudspeaker. It is a DSM unit in each speaker, and it is digital active crossovers with custom DSPs for the individual elements. We don?t know the details of signal processing on streaming level yet - and the use of external boxes. But it is tempting to assume that there is still talk of an external box that coordinates streaming to each channel / speaker.

As I said Linn Exakt is a system, and it will be implemented in Linn`s music systems at various levels. It has been stated that the first will be launched at the peak system Klimax. We've seen rumors about the price that confirms the obvious - the high price range!
