RECORD NEWS: Four new SACDs from Chandos in the horizon.
Skrevet av Karl Erik SyltheThe record company Chandos has four new releases on SACDs on the horizon. They are all multi-channel records.
Kurt Atterberg was a Swedish composer who lived from 1887 to 1974. Chandos released a SACD with among others two symphonies, recorded with Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra.
Now they release a new SACD called Atterberg: Orchestral Works 2. This time Neeme Järvi conducts the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, and the repertoire is Symphony no. 2 and no. 8.
Symphony no. 2 was composed in 1911 and initially had only two movements. After massive criticism Atterberg supplemented a third movement. Symphony no.8 was composed in 1944 and premiered in 1945.
