Bowers & Wilkins deliver car-audio with Nautilus tweeters

Written by

English B&W deliver sound system in the all-new Volvo XC90. This is the first time they deliver car-stereo to a luxery SUV.

Bowers & Wilkins are no novices when it comes to sound systems to Highendcars. They already have both Maserati and Jaguar on the CV - the latter we experienced during a session at press meeting in Copenhagen in 2009 .

This time it is Volvo's new top model in the SUV segment that gets the pleasure of a sound system from B&W, and now this speaker manufacturer take it further than ever before. They use the prestigious Nautilus concept or Tweeter On Top as they call it in this context.

But it's not just tweeters this plant is about - it is a formidable list of components:

19 loudspeakers:

- 4 x 25mm Nautilus tweeters (front & rear doors)

- 2 x 100mm Kevlar cone midrange (front doors)

- 2 x 80mm Kevlar cone midrange (rear doors)

- 4 x 170mm long throw woofers (front & rear doors)

- 1 x two-way 100mm midrange / 25mm tweeter units (dashboard)

- 2 x two-way midrange 80mm / 25mm tweeter units (rear roof panel)

Also:

- 12-channel Class D amplifier

- Quantum Logic ® DSP with signal extraction, reverb extraction and spatial filtering

- 7.1 playback from mono, stereo and / or multi channel input
