MOON Evolution 780D - new referanseDAC from Simaudio

Written by

Simaudio launches a new DAC in the absolute reference class. MOON Evolution 780D is simultaneously a network player with built-in client for TIDAL.

In January Simaudio launched a new DAC in the series MOON Neo - the model 280D, which we wrote about here .

This time it is the absolute top range MOON Evolution of Simaudio that gets a new model. MOON Evolution 780D is a highend DAC in reference class, and has a full balanced dual-mono design.

780D has nine digital inputs, including USB, AES / EBU, 3x SPDIF, 2x Optical, aptX Bluetooth and Ethernet / WiFi. It supports DSD up to DSD256 and PCM up to 32bit / 384kHz.

Where 280D had MiND as an option, the Evolution 780D this network player included. There is MOON its own solution for streaming and also allows for streaming of DSD. There is also integrated a possibility for direct streaming from TIDAL.

Correct timing is emphasized in Evolution 780D, and it has a clock that operates with margin of error at femto-level. Specifically jitter of max 150 femto-seconds, which corresponds to 0.15 nanosecond!

DAC in Evolution 780D runs in 8 differential mode, provisioned by two DAC chips with 8 DAC circuits in each chip.

MOON Evolution 780D is expected to be available in the third quarter of 2015. We anticipate that it will have a six-figure price tag in Norway.

MOON is imported to Norway by Oslo Hi-Fi Center .
