Meridian 808v6 - new reference CD player

Written by

Meridian launches new updated version of its traditional 808 CD player. But 808v6 can do more than play CDs - it is simultaneously an advanced digital processor and preamplifier.

Mderidian 808v6 has been given  an advance notice for a while, and now it's time for an official launch. The  808-player has been through a series of upgrades, and I will not insult the reader's intelligence by revealing that 808v6 is the sixth version. 808v6 is otherwise a portion of Meridian's 800 Series, and is thus also reference player from this manufacturer.

There are several interesting news in 808v6, and by far the most exciting of those is that the digital processor includes an MQA decoder. This decoder is Meridian's contribution launched about a year ago that enables streaming HighRes music with lossless compression.

It is also upgraded USB and SPDIFreceivers which allow playback of files with sampling rates up to 192kHz. An extended DSP chip facilitator for LipSync, playback of Meridian its classic rival files DSD, as well as rendering of MQA.
