PA-10 - new compact power amplifier from Gold Note Featured
Written by Karl Erik SyltheGold Note has launched a new power amplifier. The name is PA-10, and Gold Note experts will already know bythe name that this is a compact model.
The Gold Note 10 series is a compact series, and this summer we wrote about the new interesting streamer DS-10 , which was the latest addition to the Gold Note 10 series. But there is much else interesting in this Gold Note series, and perhaps the most exciting box is the RIAA stage PH-10, a device that revealed itself in the Gold Note rack for PM-Audio during our short visit this summer.
PA-10
The new 10 Series amplifier, like the rest of the series, is only 20 cm wide, has a steel chassis, and a brushed aluminum case, where you can choose between gold, silver and black finish. The manufacturer says it's a perfect match for the DS-10, which can then take on the role of source and digital preamplifier.
It has a construction that provides 2x75 watts in 8 ohms, and doubles into 2x150 watts in 4 ohms, and further to 2x 300 watts in 2 ohms. Like the flagship model PA-1175 MKII, the PA-10 also has an adjustable damping factor, which makes it adaptable to both heavy-duty speakers and more simple and easy-to-drive designs.
PA-10 has a construction using Bridge Tied Load (BTL). This means that it can be bridged and act as a 300 watt mono block at 8 ohm, or 600 watts at 4 ohms.
The amplifier is fully balanced, and has both RCA and balanced inputs. The speaker terminals are gold plated.
Paul Mortensen from the Norwegian distributor PM Audio expresses great enthusiasm for the newcomer PA-10. He says that this is a product he has been waiting for a while from Gold Note, and will be a suitable partner for eg. KRIX EQUINOX. He also has been reporting to founder and CEO Maurizio at Gold Note that there is a need for a pure analog preamplifier in this segment, as well as an integrated amplifier.
The price of PA-10 will be 15,975, -
