KSPHONO - extreme arm cables from Kimber Kable Featured

Written by

Kimber Kable has launched new tone arm cables at the extremely high end of the price range. The price for the most expensive is higher than most audiophiles spend on a complete vinyl rig.

Ray Kimber started one of the world's first audiophile cable companies in 1979. At that time, it was only Monster Monster that existed among the big ones, while AudioQuest, TARA Labs, and Cardas Audio followed through into the 1980s. And the thing is, it is that it was around those times that audiophile cables started to become an interesting phenomenon.

The reason Roy Kimber began to take an interest in cable was that at that time he worked in a sound and lighting company in Los Angeles, and he discovered that lighting systems emitted noise that was captured by the audio system. This led Roy Kimber to develop speaker cables that could withstand this radiation, and formed the basis for Kimber cable

Kimber Kable is today one of the dominant HighEnd cable manufacturers, based in Utah, USA. And don't ask why they write Kable with "k".

The latest addition to Kimber Kable's range is the KSPHONO tonearm series. It is designed to minimize both electrical noise and mechanically transmitted noise. There are 3 different variants of KSPHONO - KSPHONO-CU, KSPHONO-HB and KSPHONO-AG, where there are different materials in the three versions. And the price varies greatly between the three.

KSPHONO-CU

We start with the least expensive variant. KSPHONO-CU is a variant in which the four conductors are made of pure copper.

The US price for this 1 meter length variant is $ 2,800.

KSPHONO-HB

At KSPHONO-HB, the four conductors are made of pure silver, while grounding is made of pure copper. Hence HB, which is the abbreviation for Hybrid

The US price for this 1 meter length variant is $ 6,600.

KSPHONO-AG

KSPHONO-AG is the most expensive variant. Here both conductors and grounding are made of pure silver.

The US price for this 1 meter length variant is $ 9,400.

Kimber Kable is imported to Norway by NCMS
