Marantz has launched three new AV receivers in the lower part of their product range. We talk about NR1506, NR1606 and SR5010. Marantz is that of the Japanese giants who are recently out to reveal this year's news, and they start at the bottom end of the product hierarchy. Where we find two slimline recievers who have a moderate effect, but otherwise has a competitive equipment level.

Bowers & Wilkins goes wireless with their headphones P5. It is also the first time this prestigious manufacturer uses Bluetooth in their headphones.

This story started when I was given a CD-player for free. Actually, it was part of an entire stereo setup, but the CD-player was the only part that reaIly caught my interest. It was a Philips CD 615, a rather cheap “plasticy” thing, but much to my amazement, it proved to sound better than anything I`ve previously had, including big, heavy and expensive ones. It sports a TDA 1543 DAC, known as a minatyrization of the famous TDA 1541. Actually, I wasn`t all that amazed, because after reading lots of vintage columns in the hi-fi magazines, I learnt that the Philips`s were highly sought after for their almost indestructible transports, the CDM-series, and their TDA 1540-series DAC`s.   

Dali present two new additions to their speaker range. We are talking about two new small models in Zensor series, and a whole new series with the name Opticon.

PS Audio announces a new DAC with DSD expertise. NuWave DSD is a further development of NuWave, where DSD and I2S input are two important ingredients.

Monitor Audio launches a new speaker series. Bronze replaces Bronze BX.

Onkyo follows up the previously released AV receivers in the Budget- and  lower middle class with two receivers in the upper midrange. Needless to say, the new models are supporting both Dolby Atmos and DTS: X.
