Metrum Pavane - new flagship DAC from Metrum Acoustics

Written by

Cees Rujtenberg in Metrum Acoustics has designed a new NOS DAC, surpassing his previous constructions. It's called Metrum Pavane.

Cees Rujtenberg has over 25 years of experience in the audio industry, and specializes in the construction of DACs. In the company Metrum Acoustics they have already three DACs in range, and the fresh Pavane tops them all. Rujtenberg taken particular interest for Non Oversampling DAC (NOS) after listening to some constructions that despite thieir shortcomings on some parameters could offer something he thinks lacked in conventional oversampling-DACs.

Of the most prolific manufacturers who have invested in DACs with no oversampling is  Audio Note. Metrum Acoustic already has two models with NOS - Octave Mk II and HEX. In the new flagship model Pavane Cees Rujtenberg has spent a year developing a R2R module which is an essential part of the structure.

The new model has 4 DACs in parallel, and has 1 optical, 2 coax, 1 AES / EBU and a USB input. There are 2 RCA and 2 XLR outputs. Pavane has a match weight of 9 kg, and retail is 4.950 Euro.
