ECP 2 MKII - Electrocompaniet with upgraded Phono Stage Featured

Written by

Electrocompaniet have created an upgraded version of the ECP II phono stage. The new version has the natural name ECP 2 MKII.

The backdrop to the original ECP 2 from the Electrocompany was ECP 1, a RIAA that emerged "in the vinyl age", to quote fellow writer Arve. Or maybe we should say the previous vinyl age? ECP 1 was a device that had some sort of legend status for some enthusiasts, and also Arve had fond memories of it. He tested the successor ECP 2 in 2016, shortly after it was launched. This was during the times when Electrocompaniet also launched the brand New  turntable ECG 1 , which he tested just after its launch in the fall of 2015. ECP 2 was a rather different construction, and was based on Leif Erntsen's RIAA from Dynamic Presicion.

Now, the Electrocompaniet has released an upgraded version of this RIAA.. Electrocompaniet emphasize that the new version is designed in line with the new MKII design in the Classic series, a design line that has already received its incarnations in ECM 1 MKII, EC 4.8 MKII. It has a brand new chassis and front plate.

Electrocompaniet is not clear on the technical changes in ECM 2 MKI. Gain is adjustable in 5dB increments, which is still maintained by a dip switch switch at the back. There we also find two XLR outputs in addition to the RCA outputs.

The ECP 2 MKII has a price of  NOK 18.500, -.
