For fire uker meldte vi om Yamaha sin nye kolleksjon av receivere i den nedre halvdel av spekteret. Det er RX-V-serien, med totalt fem modeller. AVENTAGE dekker den øvre del av spekteret, og er noe mer påkostede modeller. Det er totalt 6 stykker i denne serien, som i år blir utvidet nedover med en ny minstemann.

Utvidet støtte for 3d-lyd er selvfølgelig et tema også hos Yamaha. Likevel er det en tydelig større tilbakeholdenhet her enn det vi har sett i årets nykommere fra Pioneer, Onkyo, og Denon, hvor Dolby Atmos hos de to sistnevnte er tilgjengelig i alle modeller unntatt den aller minste. Vi så den samme tendensen også på Yamaha sin budsjettserie RX-V, som ble lansert tidligere i vår. Her var det ingen modeller som støtter Atmos. I AVENTAGE-serien er Dolby Atmos tilgjengelig fra og med RX-A850, mens du må enda et hakk opp til RX-A1050 for å få støtte for DTS:X.

Et annet trekk som er interessant å merke seg er at Yamaha fremdeles tilbyr matrisedekodingen DPL IIz også for receivere med Atmos-kompabilitet, mens det vanlige er at Atmoskompatible receivere har den nye dekodingsalgoritmen Dolby Surround, som også ganske effetktivt dekoder 7.1/5.1 og stereomateriell også til høydekanalene. Det er nærliggende å anta at dette valget har sammenhenbg med implementeringen mot Yamaha sine egne omfattende DSP-program. Det nye Dolby Surround må ellers ikke forveksles med den svært gamle surroundinnkodingen med samme navn.
