Denon has previously launched their budget models AVR-X1100, AVR-X2100 and AVR-X3100, and in late May, we published a news article about the two smallest of these models . Now, it is the upper models being launched. The receiver AVR-X4100 obviously replaces AVR-X4000, while the AVR-X5200W also obviously replace the slightly older AVR 4520. Additionally, there are intense rumors on the continent on a model AVR-X7200W with a price tag around. 40% above AVR-X5200W, but this model has not yet confirmed details from the manufacturer or distributor.
Two new receivers with Dolby Atmos from Denon.
Written by Karl Erik SyltheDenon launches two new receivers in the upper segment. We are talking about AVR-X4100W and AVR-X5200W, and of course they support the new format from Dolby.
Also Denon joins the course ranks of manufacturers who introduce receivers with support for Dolby Atmos this summer. There are now a total of five of the six major Japanese manufacturers who have signed up, and it's probably only a matter of time before Sony also follow suit. Read otherwise our article on Dolby Atmos, and about the new receivers from Onkyo, Yamaha , and Pioneer .
The smaller of these two receivers AVR-X4100W is a receiver with 7 power amps. But it has 9.2 preamp, and pre-out for 13.2 channels. Without haveing been able to delve into details yet to confirm this, we find it highly probable that the AVR-X4100 can deliver a 5.2.2 Setup by its own engine, and a 5.2.4 or 7.2.2 setup using external power amplifier for the last two channels.
AVR-X5200W however, is a receiver with 9 power levels and has a Pre-/pro part with 13.2. Thus it should be able to deliver 5.2.4 or 7.2.2 without assistance, and 7.2.4 with external power amplifier to the last two channels. Hi-Fi klubben highlighting otherwise that AVR-X5200W has good powersupply for the amps, which are constructed as 9 mono-blocks.
Both models have 3 HDMI outputs, and we of course recognise the new advances present in the fresh budget models, such as built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Spotify Connect and Airplay is not new in this generation, but still worth highlighting.
The price of the AVR-X4100W is set to NOK 12.498, - while the AVR-X5200W is priced at NOK 14,998, -. The AVR X5200W seems to give extra good value.
We hope to come back with a review of one of these models.
