SR7009 - new top of the range AV receiver from Marantz.

Written by

Marantz unveils its new top model SR7009, which replaces SR7008. The latest in a series of Atmos-compatible receivers to be launched this summer.

It's a bit funny phenomenon with the annual emissions of AV receivers. Budget models are usually launched in the spring, while models further up the hierarchy are often launched in the summer, with the delivery date into autumn. We reported aboout NR 1605 and SR5009 in June , and now have come for the largest model in the range - SR7009. This is a receiver with 9-channel power amp, and processor for 11.2.

Thus, we are also talking about a receiver that has a good foundation for the new algorithm Atmos from Dolby and SR7009 from Marantz is a representative from the fifth manufacturer that supports Dolby Atmos this summer, after we've previously written about Atmos-compatible receivers from Onkyo , Yamaha , Pioneer and Denon . With 9 power amps SR7009 is capable of serving a 7.2.2 or 5.2.4 setup without help, or a fully-7.2.4-setup with an aditional two-channel external power amplifier.

Marantz has Audyssey MultEQ Upgrade to XT32 / LFC Pro, and this will according to Marantz provide more accurate room correction. We find otherwise full suite of wireless streaming capacity, with WiFi, Bluetooth, Airplay and Spotify Connect. Also streaming of DSD and FLAC 24/192 is supported.

Marantz also has an upgraded version of the AV7701 AV processor coming. We will return with a presentation of the AV7702 as soon as verified specifications from the manufacturer are available.
