RECORD NEWS: Engegårdkvartetten - new Pure Audio Blu-ray / SACD from 2L

Written by

2L release a new multichannel record with Engegårdkvartetten. It comes this time as combined SACD and Pure Audio Blu-ray.

Engegårdkvartetten has three releases before at 2L, but then as pure stereo/multichannel SACD. We also know Engegårdkvartetten from an exquisite CD with Susanne Lundeng`s CD "På vei ut", released on KKV, and which we reviewed here .

But here it is thus pure classical and contemporary music. A trademark for Engegårdkvartetten`s releases on 2L is that they normally spans a large time window in terms compositions. It is supremely the case also on this release, where the four composers are spanning four centuries.

Haydn has been represented on several previous releases by Engegårdkvartetten, and here it is String Quartet opus 76, no. 3, which is being recorded. No. 5 in the same opus was recorded on the earlier release Haydn - Solberg - Grieg. We have otherwise reviewed the entire opus 76 in a release with Euryn Quartet on Blu-ray Audio, published by Tacet .

In addition to Schubert and Britten, the young Norwegian composer Maja Solveig Kjelstrup Ratkje is a very exciting composer, and here wa have a work commissioned by Engegårdkvartetten. This work came out to be influenced by the events of 22 July 2011 when she worked with composition.

The release Franz Schubert - Maja Ratkje - Benjamin Britten - Joseph Haydn was like many other releases from 2L recorded in Jark Church, this time in November 2014. It does not prevent release comes in December.
