Pioneer Atmos Enabled speaker set.

Written by

Pioneer launches a speaker set that is specifically tailored for Dolby Atmos. The speakers are designed by head designer of TAD Laboratories, Andrew Jones.

Pioneer is one of the producers that early were on their toes cregarding Dolby's new 3D sound system, Dolby Atmos. They have 3 new receivers in the LX Series that everyone supports Dolby Atmos, and now launches the speakers with built drivers for Atmos Enabled speakers. More precisely, this means the variant where height channels are fired from separate drivers that in this case sits on top of the ordinary "ground speakers", in contrast to roof mounted speakers height channels. Pioneer uses concentric speaker elements to Atmos drivers, a grip we also have seen from other manufacturers.

The new kit consists of floor speakers S-FS73A, stand models S-BS73A, center speaker S-C73A and subwoofer S-71W. And both floor speakers and stand speakers have built-Atmos drivers in the top, which qualifies this set to a 5.1.4 setup with Dolby Atmos.

The new speaker will be available in January 2015. In the meantime you can enjoy the video below where Andrew Jones tells about his Philosophy on speaker development. This video is not related to the aforementioned speaker  set.
