Icon Audio is based in Leicester in England, in the outskirts of the city, just off the River Soar. They have been producing HiFi since 1999 with an emphasis on valve amplifiers, and has a rich assortment of amps in the portfolio.
They also produced CD players, and Icon Audio CD X1 has been their HighEnd bid in this exercise. Now they are launching a more affordable model, but which according to the manufacturer has much of the same audio properties. For CD X2 they have chosen a topload mechanism, which gives the player a distinctive look.
Like the CD X1 also newcomer has 24bit / 192kHz DACs with upsampling. The player is like other products from Icon Audio armed with valves, and the manufacturer has ready upgrade packages for those who want that. Icon Audio is otherwise a manufacturer that advertises that they offer good service and promises that spare parts will be available in the product's longevity.
