Yamaha launches two new products with streaming. We are talking about stereo receiver R-N301 and CD player CD-N301.
On Friday, we reported on the new budget line of amplifiers from Yamaha, with models A-S301, A-S501 and A-S701. Today we can report that two products with streaming expertise are in the horizon.
The Network Receiver R-N301 has a different set of properties than the integrated amplifiers we wrote about on Friday, where streaming is the most striking one. Like the new integrated amplifiers also R-N301 has optical and coax digital input. But in addition, it has thus a network input and a DC-in that allows you to connect a WiFi adapter. Via Wired or WiFi network (via adapter - optional extras) Spotify, AirPlay and DLNA are supported. The receiver can be operated from mobile devices via a downloadable app.
The amplifier has an output provided to 2x100WRMS into 8 ohms. Unlike the new range of integrated amplifiers we wrote about on Friday, R-N310 deficiencies turntable input.
The CD player CD-N301 has new of the same network characteristics that the receiver R-N301 employs. It includes AirPlay, Spotify and DLNA. This makes the CD-301 not being an obvious partner for R-N301 - but rather the vanilla CD player CD-S300 would be just as natural selection of Yamaha's range. Conversely, CD-N301 could be an interesting choice in a layout that otherwise lacks networking and streaming services. A clean CD player with network capability is a fairly rare breed.
Both CD-N301 and R-N301 will be displayed at IFA in early September. They are expected to be available at late fall.
