After Yamaha launched its S300-series in the upper high-end class last fall, they found the time for launching updated models in the second in command Series S2000. The new series is named S2100, and consists of an amplifier and a CD player.

We start with CD player CD-S2100 , which like its predecessor has balanced structures. It also shares with its predecessor that it is a combined CD / SACD player. New, however, is that the S2100 also has digital inputs and a USB input. This allows the CD-S2100, like many other modern CD players really is a combined CD player and DAC.

It is a 32-bit DAC from ESS Technology, the ES9016. Used as UDB DAC, it supports files with resolution up to 24bits/192kHz. It also supports playback of DSD files from HDD via USB!

The amplifier A-S2100 is well balanced and has a phono stage that takes both MC and MM pickups.

Like its predecessor and other medium and large amplifiers in the S series, it also has its own Main-in, which in effect acts as a processor input / HT-bypass. It has already been installed in our exclusive database of amplifiers with processor input.

Both the amplifier and CD players are available in silver or piano black, with wooden sides in light or dark versions.
