A couple weeks ago we reported about high-end home theater set from Yamaha. Obviously Yamaha is deep into an highend-mood of the times, and have now launched amplifier A-S3000 and the CD player CD-S3000, which tops the retro inspired Sx00 (0 ) family.

A few years ago Yamaha launced a whole new series of stereo components with a sleek, retro-inspired look, consisting of integrated amplifiers and CD players with elegant, slim CD-tray in aluminum.
It was mid-series S1000 and S2000, and these were gradually supplemented by budget series S700, S500 and S300. Now Yamaha take a big leap upward and launches S3000 series.

The integrated amplifier A-S3000 is a real beast at almost 25 kg, and has a rated output of 100W into 8 ohms and 150W into 4 ohms. The front is dominated by a couple of VU-meters, which supports the retro-inspired design. The amp has balanced inputs, and also has already earned a place in our exclusive database of amplifiers with processor input , in company with the empty smaller brothers S1000 and S2000.

Balanced outputs are also found on the CD player CD-S3000. Not unexpected the CD-S3000 also is SACD-compatible, which it shares with the two smaller brothers in the mid range. CD-S3000 is otherwise well prepared to be used as a DA-converter for external sources. It has both optical and coax digital input, in addition to a USB port.
We do not know the price in Norway yet, but the supervisor. U.S. rates of respectively 8.000, - and 7.000, USD gives reason to suspect that we are on the upper half of the five-figure price tag arena, where it finds the company of Denon's flagship series in stereo.
