Raumfeld Model One S goes stereo

Written by

The German multi-room company Raumfeld which earlier this year introduced himself for the Scandinavian market, have clear ambitions towards pushing Sonos of the stick. The latest initiative with Raumfeld Start is a clear example of this.

Earlier this summer Sonos introduced a package price for two pieces of Play:1, as a kind of starter kit. Raumfeld strikes back with Raumfeld Start, a stereo set consisting of their smallest model. This is also the model where the price ratio is closest to Sonos Play:1, so the competition is obvious.

In this starting set from Raumfeld you can choose to configure the two Model S as multi-room setup, or as a stereo set. This is done in the recently upgraded app that Raumfeld announced a few days ago, an app available for iOS and Android.

It is also included a combined WiFi Hub and booster in the set. And you can choose between black and white color on Model One S. Or one of each.

Raumfeld streams both Spotify and Tidal from internet, and for a limited time it comes with a three month subscription to Tidal Package. You can otherwise locally stream music via DNLA and UPnP.

That leaves the most interesting question - can Ramfeld Start with Model One S rival  the ruling mulitroom king - Sonos Play:1? We don`t know yet. But we intend to find out, and a test set of Raumfeld Start is ordered. Stay tuned!
